I am originally from West Seattle, currently living in Issaquah with my husband and two children. I first became interested in birth support when I was 19 years old. At that time I had the privilege of assisting my sister in-law in the birth of her first child. I remember being struck by what an amazing event it was. Being asked to attend her birth was an incredible honor that I will always cherish. After that experience, I told myself, “this is what I want to do”. Not knowing at the time what a Doula was, I went down another path. Now many years later, I have returned to my original passion. I am a certified birth doula with DONA International, I also work as a hired Independent contractor with Swedish Hospital, and I am a certified Lactation Educator. I completed my birth Doula training at Bastyr University in June 2012 where I was very fortunate to have the instruction of the renowned Penny Simkin. I have since taken courses in the use of Rebozo, TENS unit, and acupressure for pregnancy and labor support. I have also taken childbirth educator trainings at Great Starts, and finished my postpartum training at Bastyr University. When I am not working as a Doula, I enjoy spending time with my family, volunteering at my children’s school, yoga, and reading.
